This workshop covers the basic techniques of Western paper-making using household items. Participants will be taught about the history of paper, the types of paper suitable for different purposes, and how to pull their own sheets.
Paper making allows you to control the body of your artwork, which is the material where your images and ideas reside. These concepts are important educationally because it combines conservation with concept. People learn that one does not need high end manufactured papers to create fine art at the highest level. The combination of printmaking and paper making allows you to create an artwork that is completely your own from start to finish.
Our workshops are designed as both professionally intensive and communally fun introductions to printmaking. Our larger service is to equip artists with the knowledge of how to combine traditional printmaking and the resource of a community printmaking studio with their own work.
