Missed Storytelling 101? Watch it for free and you’re eligible to take this class. Also, the instructor will give you email feedback on your idea prior to class so you can make sure you are exploring the right angle in your draft.
You’ve got the beginnings of a riveting 2-5 minute story related to the Black Lives Matter movement, but you want to transform your diamond-in-the-rough into a gem because stories are about so much more than “what happens.” You aren’t sure if it’s done yet or what storytelling shows or podcasts to pitch. Good news: the story doctor is in! Let Moth StorySLAM winner and HuffPo Journalist Laura Cathcart Robbins help you turn a moment into an epic tale of triumph and woe and polish that story for performance/recording.
In this intimate (ten student max) one-day intensive, we’ll workshop the hell out of your story, help you polish it up so you’re ready to perform! You’ll practice performing it and get tips on how to add detail and emotion to your story. You will also get email feedback on your idea prior to class so you can make sure you are exploring the right angle.
Before you know it, you’ll join the ranks of the 18 students who’ve won StorySLAMs and 3 who’ve won GrandSLAMs from taking this class.
Prerequisites: Storytelling 101: Make Your Voice Heard (watch it for free on our Youtube channel), A draft of a 500-600 word story
