In Brooklyn Glass's 8 Week Letter Course students will focus on learning the skills required to bend letters and work from a pattern. We will begin by mastering basic tube bending techniques and layout & design preparation in order to move on to bending block letters. Students will also be introduced to post-production work such as wiring, mounting, and hanging a neon sign.
Students can expect to finish three projects over the course of the class-two smaller neon art pieces and one final piece, all designed and bent independently, with assistance from the instructor. This will be an intensive course, beginners and advanced students alike are welcome.
Unlike other neon workshops, our classes are housed within a fully functioning neon shop and neon product warehouse allowing us to offer all the materials needed (various color tubing, power supplies and wiring, and hanging materials) on site, and our instructors are specialized in digital layout design, electrical program, and glass fabrication.
Students will be provided with a neon bending tool kit to keep for future studio use, and one neon transformer that will light up to 2 small units. Additional transformers can be purchased on site if needed.
