I really liked learning the fundamentals of woodworking in this class, and I love how my table came out! The class would sometimes move slowly because there were so many students and only a few machines for a specific task, but I mostly didn't mind. Steve and Mario are both very knowledgable and helpful.

The class is affordable and good if you’re a beginner. However, the instructor might have anger management issues. He was constantly yelling and snapping at students over simple issues most of time(some were actually his fault) and only stressing people out more when there is indeed a serious issue. So although I liked the work itself, that’s the reason I won’t proceed to a more advanced course offered there. The assistants are awesome so I gotta be fair with them and thank them. Also the other students were great to work with.

Great class that covered machinery + hand tools. The instructor and TA were both super knowledgeable and accommodating. Class size was a bit large so there was some waiting to use machines, but we all finished our tables.

Great class, I messed up the bridle joint (too tight) and left it together but unglued over the week between classes, leading to a cracked table leg. Steve fixed it and showed me where the problem in the joint was. Learned a lot of woodworking techniques!!!

Question from Mike g.
How many people in class? I’m not really a beginner as I’ve taken shop in high school and am handy with most tools
Answer from Georgia C. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Mike! The average class size for this course is 10. The class does not necessarily need to fill up, but note that schools will typically have a minimum number of students required for a class to run from a financial perspective. Even though this class is for beginners, you are more than welcome to attend. You will learn more about creating a side table.

Question from Andrew L.
Hi, I bought a Kobalt *adjustable* block plane at Lowe's - they didn't have a "low angle" one in stock. Does the adjustable block plane work for this class?
Answer from Andrew M. Verified Student
Hi! I took the class last semester and the block plane you purchased should be fine. To be honest, I used the low angle plane I had purchased exactly once, and the woodshop has ones there to use, or you can borrow one from a classmate.
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hey, Andrew! Yes, the Kobalt Adjustable Block Plane is perfectly fine for the course.
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hey Andrew! The school said they have tools there you can use, block plane doesn't have to have an adjustable mouth. Thanks!

Hi! I signed up for the Thursday night class with Steven Ceraso at FIT already but will need to miss 2 classes and maybe leave one of the classes early. Would this be a huge problem? I really, really want to take this course starting Feb in order to continue onto the Modern Chair class starting in Apr. Thanks!

Question from Kristine R.
Hello! I'm shopping for the tools needed for the first day of class. Are these correct?? https://www.amazon.com/Stanley-1-12-220-12-220-Block-Plane/dp/B00002X1Z8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1505317355&sr=8-4&keywords=Low+Angle+Block+Plane https://www.amazon.com/Hitachi-725199-4-Inch-10-Inch-Narrow/dp/B000BT1PPE/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1505317421&sr=8-4&keywords=3%2F4+inch+flat+wood+chisel+woodworking Thanks again!!
Answer from Jenn C. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi! Please make sure to pick the exact item/s. The 3/4 inch flat wood chisel looks about right. As for the Block plane, the school requires a Low Angle Block Plane. See the list below: 12' Tape Measure Dust Mask Pencils 6 or 12 in. Combo Square 3/4 inch flat wood chisel Low Angle Block Plane (Kobalt, Stanley or equivalent), available at Lowes, Home Depot or on Amazon.com
Answer from JoAnne H. Verified Student
I can’t read the text super well, but something to measure, a square and pencils. They have all the equipment you’ll need too.

Question from Kristine R.
Hello! The supply list is very helpful. I am unfamiliar with a lot of these tools and am not always sure I'm purchasing the correct item. Do we need to have these for the first class or can we confirm with the teacher on the first day that we are ordering the correct item?
Answer from Ciarra O. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi! As per the class information page, the materials are needed on your first day of class. The kobalt adjustable mouth blockplane is available at Lowes.com while the rest of the materials may be bought at Amazon.com.
Answer from Caroline L. Verified Student
You can confirm on the first day. I purchased all of the items on the list. However, I barely used them as there are a number of tools available in the shop.
