Description

What you'll learn in this indian cooking class:

You will be taught everything you need to know about spices (masalas), which is the basis of Indian cooking that will come handy when we begin to cook. Spices bring out the flavor in each dish; therefore, I always like my students to learn and become spice experts. I will teach you the nuances and secrets, where to get the masalas, and how to keep the aroma intact.

After the class I will send you the electronic version of the recipes to your email, so that it will be with you forever. This class is going to be very hands-on, but I will be with you all the time and giving you instructions. We cook from scratch using the best, healthy organic ingredients, spices and produce. We mingle, share our cooking experiences, eat together at the end of the class, and have lots of fun.

After we will make all the dishes, we will have a sit-down dinner. You will get friendship, fun and exquisite food a complete dinner like a king.

Summary

A must for all the vegetarians out there, enjoy a full course meal of 5 different vegetarian dishes! Our first dish on this menu is Okra Bhaji. Okras, you either hate them or love them but after learning my okra masala I know you will love them. Fresh, organic okras infused with a variety of spice blend, healthy yet full of flavors. Next up we have Baingan Bharta, which is smoked eggplants in onions and garden herbs. This dish doesn’t require as that many spices compared to other dishes because all the flavors come from the herbs. Chana masala with Coconut, a dish you must try for the benefit of your health. A yummy pea dish that is usually made from a variety of spices but at Mukti’s Kitchen, we like to add some coconut flavor to it for a refreshing taste.

Happiness is a bowl of Vegetable Pulao; a simple rice dish of mixed vegetables that is salty yet sweet at the same time. Lastly on the menu we have Onion Fritters, these crispy appetizers are a must to try, they are made with chickpea flour, so it's gluten free! All my dishes are very easy to make, so don’t feel overwhelmed. In the very beginning of my class, we will get to know each other and enjoy some refreshments. Then I will teach you everything you need to know about spices which is the basis of Indian cooking that will come handy when we begin to cook. My class is very hands-on, so every one of my students will have the opportunity to prepare and cook the dishes and at the end, when everything is finished, we will have dinner together and talk about your experience in my kitchen.

  • Okra bhaji (okra with onion, ginger, and tomatoes)
  • Baigan Bharta (Smoked eggplant mashed in spices
  • Chana masala (chickpea in onion, ginger, and garlic infused with spices)
  • Pakora(Oninon Fritters)
  • Vegetable pulao (Basmati rice infused with carrots, onion, cashews and raisin and spices)

Note:

There's a minimum of 3 students for the class to run. If the minimum is not met, Mukti will personally reach out to reschedule via phone or email.

School Notes:

Mukti's Kitchen doesn't offer refunds for both provider-initiated and student-initiated cancellations. Please refer to the Cancellation Policy tab for more information. No exceptions will be made after the order has been placed.

Refund Policy

We are sorry that we cannot issue refunds for classes, but you may send someone in your place or choose another class if you cannot make it for any reason.

We do require at least business days of notice for us to provide credit for another class, otherwise we are left with an empty spot and not enough time to refill it off the waiting list.

If we don't get three or more students, we will reschedule the class for another day and we will communicate with you via email. If the class gets canceled for any reason we will let you know in advance.

For snowy days, please contact us and we will let you know if the class is still being held.

Important: Please note that all classes are non-refundable and class cancellations made by the school and students alike are covered in the above policy.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

    A wonderful class where I learned so much about cooking Indian food and cooking in general! I highly recommend it!     I enjoyed the course, the instructor, and the food, but the class was not as advertised. Two of the dishes were made with ghee and thus not vegan. Additionally, the course description of the dishes to be prepared did not match the dishes we actually cooked. A substitution is fine, especially given the nature of picking the freshest ingredients, but to advertise five dishes and only make four was disappointing.

Hi there! The vegan gluten-free classes make chana masala, cauliflower and potato curry, pakora, pulalo, and eggplant masala. They are mostly Calcutta cuisine.
