What you'll learn in this culinary (meals) class:

This speedy recipe for delicious gnocchi will be useful well into the future (if not forever!). Chef Paul will show you how to make two different kinds of gnocchi, with two different sauces. He'll teach you how to make them light and how to make them fast, a perfect dinner at home with family or with friends. 

Learn to cook the following:
  • Caesar Salad with Homemade Croutons
  • Spinach Gnocchi with Sage Butter
  • Potato Gnocchi with Vodka Sauce
  • Chocolate Brownies with Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
Students below 18 years old should be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

There are 2 entrances located between Umbertos Clam House. One is to the left if facing the restaurant and that is 1 flight up the stairs you will need to press 11 then the green bell key and wait to be buzzed in. The other is to the right of the restaurant that is a black street level elevator and just press the elevator button to gain access and go to the 2nd floor. There is also an intercom system there as well in case the elevator is locked. Closest Train stations are: B,D at Grand Street,N, R, J, Q, 6 at Canal Street. Parking is available on Elizabeth & Mott between Hester and Canal Street.

The class was really fun! I am a total beginner, can only do the basics, but Chef Paul made everything look easy and fun, and now I feel like I can actually make gnocchi! I would love to take another class here soon!

The class was a lot of fun. Chef was knowledgeable, organized and very entertaining. The menu was well planned and I liked that everyone got to work on their part of the dinner while at the same time getting to observe what the other participants were doing. The vodka sauce was delicious and the brownies scrumptious. I was a little disappointed with the texture of the potato gnocchi, which I expected to be softer. This class caught my attention specifically because I wanted to refine my gnocchi making technique. I would still highly recommend.

Teacher was very knowledgeable and staged the menu so everyone had a chance to prep and cook. Excellent class. Caesar dressing was the best I’ve ever had.

Great recipes taught by a friendly, funny chef in a great setting. I learned a lot and will definitely take more classes there. The best part: we got to sit down together at a nicely set table afterwards and enjoy the food we cooked. Wonderful!

Miette

Miette means, "little crumb" in French. This name was chosen while giving cooking classes at the restaurant Tartine in the West Village. Since Tartine means "slice of bread" we thought it an appropriate name for the school!
