What you'll learn in this basic asl class:

Learn how to communicate without words!
Join New York Times Best Selling Author and deaf culture expert, Kambri Crews for this immersive 4 week session where you learn all the basics of American Sign Language.

6:30pm- 7:00pm will be time for the class to practice what they have learned and 7:00pm - 8:00pm will be for new instruction
This class will focus both on basic conversational American Sign Language vocabulary as well as some education regarding about Deaf culture and community.
In this class, you will learn conversational signs, NYC-based signs, finger spelling, what an “accent” looks like and how to communicate using our hands, bodies, and facial expressions. Learn how to express yourself with pictures instead of sentences and how much fluff there really is in the English language.
Each class will build on a previous lesson so that at the end of the four weeks you will be able to spell words, have basic social conversations and create your own sign name (a nickname in Deaf culture).
This will be Kambri's first time teaching the class so we are offering it at a special introducotry rate.

School Notes: OUTSIDE FOOD & DRINKS ARE NOT ALLOWED. QED has coffee, tea, soda, beer & wine plus snacks and pre-made wraps and sandwiches available.

Refund Policy
We require at least seven (7) days' notice before a class in order to issue a refund and there are no transfers to future classes allowed. We're a small operation and purchase our own supplies and keep classes extremely affordable, so we have to operate this way just to stay in business.

But, all is not lost, tickets are transferable meaning we will allow anyone to take your place in class, so check around with your friends to see if someone else would like your spot.

In case of bad weather, classes WILL always take place unless the subway system is closed down. If you have issues traveling, please keep this in mind when you purchase your ticket. If we do cancel for weather or an emergency, we will try to reschedule the class on the same day of the week at the same scheduled time as soon as possible. If you cannot make the rescheduled date, we will refund you the price of your seat.
