Did you miss our sold-out lecture in March? We’re bringing it back virtually on Zoom as a fundraiser to help QED reopen when they can. This lecture will be a special Mother’s Day edition, so you can share this in event virtually with your mom!
On this talk, Marie Carter will take you on a journey back in time to learn about the women who were considered “witches” in pre-twentieth century New York. Learn about New York City’s only witch trial, and the witches who inhabited Broome Street (no joke here) and many other enclaves of downtown. These women were fortunetellers (and many were moms), and their practice allowed them to make money and maintain autonomy in their business practices. In this talk, you’ll become acquainted with the methods and lifestyles of these infamous “witches” and the men who tried to frame them.
You'll receive a special link and password with your ticket purchase on the day of the event (or sooner).
In case of bad weather, classes WILL always take place unless the subway system is closed down. If you have issues traveling, please keep this in mind when you purchase your ticket. If the school do cancel for an emergency, we will try to reschedule the class on the same day of the week at the same scheduled time as soon as possible. If you cannot make the rescheduled date, we will refund you the price of your seat.
