Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this sql server training:

Expand your SQL skills by learning how to group data with aggregate functions, filter groups with HAVING, work with dates/time, perform advanced JOINS such as Self Join and Union, and more.

In this intermediate SQL course, you’ll build on your knowledge of SQL fundamentals, enhancing your skills to filter, group, and analyze data.

You’ll learn how to group data and perform common statistical calculations using aggregate functions. Working with data requires the ability to change the data type when it’s not what you need (using CAST), and to be able to work with and format date and time information. Finally, you’ll learn additional types of joins such as self join and union.

By the end of this intermediate hands-on course, you’ll know more SQL techniques to extract and analyze the specific data you want from the database. This will enable you to more easily turn raw data into actionable insights.

Prerequisite:
SQL proficiency equivalent to our SQL Level 1 course is required, including basic querying, fundamentals of filtering (WHERE, LIKE, and wildcards), and inner JOINs.

Great experience, I learned a good deal and feel much more confident in my skills after this class. It’s the right value for what I paid for. I had finished a couple of free tutorials on sql before this intermediate class and was able to hold my own.

This class was as good as the 1st! (I gave 5 stars for level 1). Peter was the instructor and he does an amazing job teaching all the material and going over it. The material was more difficult, but Peter was patient and helped make sure we understood. I liked that he encouraged all questions and tested out knowledge by seeing if we could identify mistakes. I would suggest this to anyone looking to continue learning SQL.

The course covered what I needed to know, and was run at about the level I was hoping for. Small group (3) meant we all were able to participate, ask questions and move at our own group pace. The instructor Pete was good and covered the course work in a structured, logical way.

SQL Level 2 is a great course to introduce you to making changes to a database. You learn how to create tables, modify table content, adding/deleting records, create views, change field properties, and set keys. You need to know how to write basic queries, so take the SQL Level 1 class first if you are a beginner. Peter was our instructor and his customized course material is very well laid out with practical examples. You work on a local sample database, so you can type notes and test your queries to better understand the output you get. The facility is neat, the equipment is fairly new and ready to use, and beverages are provided.
