Sophie Cazaneuve

Teaches at You Should Be Dancing

Sophie began dancing at the age 6, studying gymnastics and modern jazz in her native France. When she was 13, She took up partner dancing with an emphasis on acrobatic swing. Early on she became familiar with the world of both teaching and performance.

After several years of intensive training and performing, she became desirous of bringing her standard and Latin dances to a new level. A creative dancer interested in a wide array of styles, Sophie has competed successfully in both Latin and Standard, reaching top 10 in French ranking.

Since moving to New York, Sophie has added Salsa to her Latin specialization and, with Manny Davis, placed 8th at the world Latin cup in 2011. Presently, she is choreographing a routine for Rhythmology dance company and has been asked to teach in events such as the New York Salsa congress.

West coast Swing is another of her specialties. She won the French open west coast swing in 2010 with Loic Lebret. She actively works towards raising the level as well as extending the popularity of west coast swing. She is pleased to be among those helping to spread West Coast Swing into the world of Salsa.

She is known for combining sophistication, precision, creativity and wit.
