Class Description

Description

Expand your beverage expertise through a comprehensive study of coffee, tea, and water. Instruction begins with exploring the historical development of coffee and tea, progressing through major global growing regions and cultivation practices specific to each crop. The course examines the coffee roasting process and tea drying methodologies, covering plant variety classifications and stylistic distinctions between different products. Detailed exploration includes environmental sustainability considerations, appropriate service techniques, and detailed flavor profile analysis for both beverages.

Water content addresses source identification, label interpretation, mineral composition variations, and how different mineral profiles interact with wines consumed alongside the water, a consideration often overlooked in comprehensive beverage service.

The curriculum also covers beverage industry structure, current market trends, and specific segments within the broader industry landscape. Students gain insight into recent shifts in consumer preferences and contemporary purchasing patterns across all beverage categories.

In-person class sessions include comprehensive tastings of the five major categories of tea, allowing direct sensory evaluation.
