Class Description

Description

Italy stands as a global powerhouse in wine production, and Italian wines continue to gain prominence in the United States marketplace. Whether you are seeking formal credential recognition or simply wish to deepen your wine knowledge and appreciation, this introductory seminar provides a comprehensive exploration of Italy's most significant wines and wine regions.

Featured Wines and Regions:

From the distinguished "Three B's" of Italian wine, Barolo, Barbaresco, and Brunello, to innovative rule-breakers and premier sparkling producers, you will develop familiarity with some of Italy's most celebrated bottles. Piedmont's Barolo and Tuscany's Brunello certainly claim prominent positions in serious Italian wine discussions, though this course will expand your knowledge well beyond these iconic selections. You will explore Italy's top regions, their distinctive appellations, and the grapes and styles that define their character.

Tasting and Learning Format:

During this seminar, you will taste six carefully selected wines while learning about the specific grapes, production styles, and regional diversity that make Italy's greatest wines worthy of international acclaim. This hands-on approach deepens your understanding and appreciation of Italian viticulture.

For those interested in formal certification, the school offers Italian Wine Scholar North and Italian Wine Scholar South credential programs.
