Kathy Hattori

Kathy Hattori is the President of Botanical Colors, and consults, teaches and markets natural dye products to artisans and commercial clients. Kathy has been involved with making textiles and natural dyeing since 1982. Kathy studied with renowned natural dye teachers including Michel Garcia, Denise Lambert, Marilyn Brandon, and John Marshall and spent 8 years as a business partner at Earthues. She has taught extensively in Seattle, the Bay Area and at the Taos Wool Festival. She teaches and lectures about natural dyes and has written articles for the Turkey Red Journal. Kathy is sought after as a speaker about the status of natural dyes in global textile production and is deeply involved in researching sustainable methods using natural dyes. Her current projects include designing a US-produced yarn line using natural dyes, creating seasonal and trend palettes and consulting on an eco-dyehouse in Africa.
