Cesare Papetti

Cesare Papetti is a percussionist who lives in Brooklyn and works in and around New York City teaching and performing. He studied classical and contemporary percussion at Purchase College in New York. Influenced by all sounds resonating from New York’s vibrancy, Cesare pursues a multitude of different performing opportunities including: operas, orchestras and chamber groups. He has played with the Staten Island Philharmonic, Garden State Philharmonic, South Shore Orchestra, Camerata Orchestra, Regina Opera and Tilted Axes: Music for Mobile Electric Guitars. Cesare is also a frequent collaborator with Composers Concordance, a New Music collective led by Gene Pritsker, Dan Cooper and Milica Paranosic.

Recently released recordings include: Samplestra (NAXOS), a CD featuring his performance of Gene Pritsker's percussion and electronics piece entitled Destined to Shed; Salamander (Innova) featuring vibraphone work with the Peter Kerlin Octet; and Listen by the rock band, Barbaric Yawp. In addition, Cesare is also a founding member of two contemporary music groups: Occasional Noise Trio and justMusic Duo. Occasional Noise features Derin Oge on piano and William Lang and trombone. Their debut performance was in October 2014 at Shapeshifter Lab, Brooklyn. justMusic Duo features Alice Jones on flute. Past performances of the duo have included a showcase concert at the Tank, NYC presented by the Long Island Composers Alliance. Cesare also plays drum set with Barbaric Yawp, an indie-funk rock band based out of Brooklyn.
