Linocut Printmaking — Materials Included
Katrina was very helpful to us and quickly made us comfortable with the mechanics of the materials and process. She touched on an interesting array of techniques and showed examples of what can be done. We could see that there was still plenty to learn but that a little effort and practice could give us pleasing results. We're busy thinking up projects that could employ these materials as we improve our skills. A very enjoyable class experience. -
Techniques of Printmaking
I loved Taka Maruno's class. An accomplished artist himself, he is also the ideal teacher -- patient, inclusive and easygoing, but clear in his instructions and gentle but firm in his advice when asked for feedback or input on aesthetic decisions. With students ranging from accomplished professional artists to rank beginners like myself, I appreciated the relaxed and individual attention he gave us to work on individual projects at our own pace, while also gathering us for demonstrations of techniques. Taka introduced us to a range of techniques from drypoint to chine-collé and all in the context of creating unique monotype prints of all sizes. I did not see the 3 hours go by -- it was pure flow! Deep bow to Taka Maruno! -

Printmaking Workshop: Tulips
I had a nice and relaxing afternoon re-learning the craft of block print making. The rest of the participants were new to the craft so we were all more or less going at the same pace. The instructor was very clear and encouraging. I recommend this workshop to anyone else looking for a fun and relaxing craft, or an excuse to get out to this part of Queens. -
Projects in Printmaking
I have taken numerous courses at the New York School of the Arts. One of which is Printmaking. The professors are extremely professional and knowledege. The classes are not overly large so you are able to work with the professors individually. They go beyond to help you further your own creative vision. The students are very welcoming and there is always interesting dialogue between all involved. A special enviroment with much enthisuiasm for the artistic process. -

Paper Litho Workshop
Fantastic class -
Printmaking Exploration
The space was very tiny because it was for little kids. In the beginning there was little guidance and instructions so people ended up asking lots of questions on how to start. There were only 3 color choices, and the options for take home projects were revealed at the end. The instructor did not walk around enough to see how people are doing. However, I enjoyed the exposure to carving stamps and managed to create a sham. -
Printmaking Workshop: Holiday Stamps & Stationery
This class was such a fantastic way to start a Sunday morning. It was laid back and the professor was very hands on -- walking around to everyone's work station to see the progress they were making and if they were enjoying themselves. The only con is I wish the class would have been 30 minutes longer. The professor's demo took 20 minutes or so, so I wasn't able to make as many cards as I had hoped. Overall though, this class was a blast and Brooklyn Brainery is such a quaint and inspiring space. I will definitely be back to take many more classes in the future! -
Monotype
Loved the class--my second printmaking class. The teacher was wonderful. Many of my fellow students were professional artists--mostly painters. But it wasn't an intimidating experience for those of us who were not. Instead, I think they upped our game in the best way. Folks were inspiring and supportive. Highly recommended. -
DIY Printmaking: An Introduction

DIY Printmaking: An Introduction
Caroline was an excellent instructor, and we learned amazingly easy printmaking techniques in just 3 hours! Would have loved more time to learn more/move to the next level, but I left with the skills to get printing on my own.
